Tiger Pride
Sept 21&23
Reflection 1
The first week for Tiger Pride went unexpectedly well. Usually going in with the mind set
that teaching a bunch of third graders would be a little chaotic, so as a result a back-up plan
would be needed. In this case that wasn't an option at all, for the third graders were wellbehaved and ready for action. For the first week we emphasized on the introductory phase for
ultimate frisbee. The kids were very excited to participate and most of them understood the
specific skills that we went over such as the back-hand throw. I went in with the mind set that
the kids would of already had the background knowledge of how to basically throw a frisbee.
Which they did although, the forehand throw didn't really come easy to the kids. However, the
kids seemed a little more excited to participate in the instant activity. Sharks and minos is an
alternative for a simple tag game. As a kid I always enjoyed playing the game tag and with that
thought knowledge I thought the same for the kids. Sharks and Minos wasn't a game that the
kids were quite familiar with so a little explaining of the game got the kids more enthused to
play. As a result the kids had more of a blast playing Sharks and Minos then the actual content
itself.
