Reflection on Article: Stormy Weather: Leading Purposeful Curriculum Integration With and
Through the Arts
The article stormy weather is about how art can be collaborated with different subject
areas. Through this collaboration, the unit offered direct teaching examples and ideas for shared
performance featuring the arts in connection with learning in science, social studies and language
arts.
I think it is interesting to see how different subjects such as teaching weather can be
taught in completed different ways by integrated with art. The examples that were given in the
article were the weather lessons. The teacher was getting frustrated with the limitations of the
weather check, so her friend, the music teacher provide some ideas how weather can be taught in
variety of ways. I thought that the provided lessons were interesting and fun. All four teaching
episodes seem very enjoyable for students and fun to be taught in class. Also, another thing that
is nice about these lessons are, all four lessons meet the national standards. Through this article I
learned that art can be collaborated with variety of subject areas.
