Carroll M. Johnston Middle School sent a letter to families updating them on a report of an attempted student abduction. The school had previously sent a letter about the reported incident but the North Las Vegas Police Department determined the report was false after investigating. Although the initial report was inaccurate, the safety tips provided in the earlier letter are still good practices for students to follow. The principal apologizes for the incorrect information but emphasizes student safety remains the top priority.

Dear Families of Carroll M. Johnston Middle School Students:
The safety of our students is the number one priority at Carroll M. Johnston Middle School. As always, we want to keep you informed of important issues happening within our school community. Yesterday we sent home a letter regarding a report of an attempted abduction of a student from Jesse D. Scott Elementary School after school on Monday. Detectives from the North Las Vegas Police Department investigated the matter and determined it was a false report. Although we are pleased to know that an attempted abduction did not take place, we are sorry that the letter we sent out contained inaccurate information that was based on what we had been told. Although the report was false, the safety tips provided in the letter are good practices to follow throughout the year. Thank you for your cooperation and patience with this matter. Please do not hesitate to call our office at 702-799-7001 extension 4100 should you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely,
