Cohabitation

Unmarried couples living together in a sexual

relationship.
The essential difference between cohabitation and

marriage is commitment. In marriage, the

assumption is permanence; in cohabitation,
couples agree to remain together for as long as it
works out.
Studies show that men are likely to marry at an

older age than women.

Cohabitation

Within 3 years, 40% of cohabit couples married

27% broke up
Other 1/3 still live together.

Does cohabitation make a marriage stronger?

It would seem that living together would help the

marriage, but most recent studies show that cohabitation

neither are in favor nor against the marriage.

Sandwich Generation

People who find themselves sandwiched between

and responsible for two other generations.

Their children
Their aging parents

Ages 40-55
Very overwhelming because you can only be at

one place at a time. No time to get away from it

all.

Symbolic Interaction

Our own chances depend on our own situation,

especially the way we approach marriage.
