FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY Miami’ public research university ADULT CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE IN A RESEARCH STUDY ON TEACHING PERSONALITIES PURPOSE OF THE STUDY You are being asked to be in a research study. The purpose of this study is to evaluate how effectively a teacher communicates information to their students. NUMBER OF STUDY PARTICIPANTS If you decide to be in this study, you will be one of 46 people in this research study. DURATION OF THE STUDY Your participation will require approximately one hour or part thereof. PROCEDURES If you agree to be in the study, we will ask you to do the following things: 1. Sign this consent document 2. Attend an APA Workshop 3. Answer questions about that APA Workshop RISKS AND/OR DISCOMFORTS The following risks may be associated with your participation in this study: First, you may feel uncomfortable giving out demographic and personal information; or second, feel undue stress giving your honest opinion. BENEFITS The following benefits may be associated with your participation in this study: allow you to eam the basics of APA formatting and writing, become better exposed to different teaching styles and personalities. This study may benefit society by contributing to the understanding of people’s social influences and learned cultural norms. ALTERNATIVES There are no known alternatives available to you other than not taking part in this study. However, any significant new findings developed during the course of the research which may relate to your willingness to continue participation will be provided to you. CONFIDENTIALITY The records of this study will be kept private and will be protected to the fullest extent provided by law.
