The observer attended a health education class taught by Mrs. Steed about stress. The class discussed the definitions of stress and stressors, and had students share what is causing them stress and their stressors. Mrs. Steed used worksheets based on articles about the fight or flight response, and had students identify if they were a procrastinator, forgetter, or overthinker. The observer learned that it is important for the teacher to be available when students work individually, and that having students share personal experiences and discuss how others can relate creates a safe learning environment.

I
observed
a
Health
Education
class
taught
by
Mrs.
Steed.
From
the
beginning
of
class
when
students
came
in
they
knew
to
sit
in
the
seat
they
were
assigned
to
sit
in.
In
this
class
they
focused
on
different
aspects
of
stress
and
how
it
affects
them
in
their
every
day
lives.
The
class
began
by
discussing
the
definition
of
stress
and
stressors.
They
defined
stress
as
a
feeling
you
get
when
you
are
faced
with
a
difficult
or
challenging
situation
and
how
your
body
reacts
to
the
demands
of
that
task.
The
class
then
went
on
to
look
at
stressors.
Stressors
are
something
that
we
find
ourselves
responding
to,
like
the
noise
of
car
horn.
Mrs.
Steed
had
the
class
go
around
and
share
what
is
causing
stress
in
their
lives
and
what
some
of
their
stressors
are.
By
doing
this
she
established
connectedness
between
her
and
her
students
and
between
the
students
and
their
other
classmates.
Mrs.
Steed
also
used
a
series
of
worksheets
based
off
of
articles
they
were
reading
about
the
flight
or
fight
response.
She
actively
circled
the
classroom
incase
there
were
any
questions
from
the
students.
They
also
found
out
if
they
were
a
procrastinator,
forgetter,
or
over
thinker
and
shared
which
they
were.
I
observed
on
a
day
where
they
students
did
a
lot
of
individual
learning,
however,
I
can
learn
from
Mrs.
Steed
that
it
is
important
to
be
available
for
students
when
they
are
working
individually
because
they
will
often
have
questions.
I
also
learned
that
you
could
create
a
safe
learning
environment
by
having
students
share
and
then
discussing
how
others
can
relate
to
that
student.
