Naeyc Standard 8: Community Relationships

Naeyc Standard 8 is Community Relationships. During the time I took my classes I was
able to go out and look at what our community had to offer in Early Childhood Education. I went
to my local park and was able to learn more of what they offer to preschool age children that are
not able to get into head start or public preschool. I completed this activity for Child
Development 120, and I completed my research on Kiddie Kollege. Kiddie Kollege is a great
program that is offered for children 3-5 at a very low cost. The Chicago Park District offers
various programs and activities for children 3-5 that will enhance their development. Teachers
and staff can partner up with local parks and introduce the activities and programs they have to
offer to younger children. This is a great way to form a relationship within the community.
