The Nurses Etiquette Advantage

By Kathleen D. Pagana
This book has addresses relevant business
etiquette for nurses. I found the topics on
interviewing skills, networking skills, and how
to be confident in a business setting helpful
for strengthening my areas of improvement. I
found this tip: appearance is never neutral it
either adds or detracts from a professional
image to be especially meaningful.
This book will be useful for future
professional growth because it introduces
skills that are essential for a professional
nurse to have. I am beginning to practice
using these networking skills, and
interviewing skills. This will help me develop
a polished professional image.

Pagana, (2008)

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT CHARGE NURSE

SHADOWING EXPERIENCE
This was a wonderful experience that
enhanced my knowledge of the entire
department and the charge nurse role.
I was able to see first hand how the charge
nurse is a resource for the department.
Shadowing allowed me to see how much
experience is necessary to be a charge nurse.
I have a better understanding of unit
constraints and strengths from the
experience.
This is an essential experience that all new
graduate students should have because it
allows you to see the big picture of the

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY:
ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT
During the course I improved my
understanding of a code situation.
Wonderful way to review EKG
information.
Was helpful to review closed loop
communication, team work, and
pharmacology
In addition to completing the online
course Wanda Larson created a
lecture separating types of code
emergencies and the correct
treatment of them.
Practicing code situations in a group
was a magnificent experience that tied
together all of the learning concepts.
