Step by Step Through the Lesson:
- Have students bring their journals and their pencils to the gym
Activity 1:
- Explain to students that I will be examining their abilities today
- Have students stand in a line with a hula hoop each
- Ask students to begin using the hula hop around their waist
- Call out students that stop performing or drop the hula hoop
- Make students that were out, sit on side benches
Activity 2:
- Have five hula-hoops and ask students to have everyone from their seating groups to
fit into one hula-hoop.
- Have students who don't fit, sit on the side bench
Activity 3:
- Have students stand on one leg
- Students who move, or fall, sit out on the bench
Debrief:
- Gather the students in a circle with their journals and pencils
- Have students explain the activities and environment during lessons
- Students explain how it made them feel and if they have ever felt this way before (or if
they ever made someone else feel this way)
