Description of Activities and Setting

Time

I will first activate prior knowledge by going over ways we described different
objects. I would start by asking students to think about things they consider
soft, rough, hard, and smooth etc. This will get the students thinking about
different objects on their own.
I will start out by taking the students outside where there will be different
stations to visit. The students will visit a station with pieces of paper, a station
where they will feel the bark on the tree, a station where they will feel clay. I
would ask the students to describe the different materials in words on their
paper.
I would ask the students to get in pairs to share what they wrote down to
describe the different objects. Together the students would compare the
different objects. This way they can see what their peers thought of the
objects in the different stations. I would then have the students talk about what
kind of materials the different objects were made of. The students would work
together to come up with what they are made of and come up with ways they
are used. (CFU) I would walk around during this time to listen and give
feedback. I would then ask a few groups to share with the class about what
they compared.
The students would then have an assignment where they would have to go
home and come up with different things that are made out of the different
materials we discussed in class. They would have to explain what the object
is, what its made of, and how it is used.

5. Evaluate
Assessment Methods of
all objectives/skills

The following day we would go over this so the students could see the
different things their peers came up with.

6. Assessment Results of
all objectives/skills

The students would be able to come up with 2 out of 3 things made of paper, bark/wood or
clay.

Targeted Students Modifications/Accommodations

ADHD- The student would have the option of standing
or sitting. The activity would involve moving to
different stations where I could make sure the student is
on task. During the pairing the student would be put
with a student that models on-task behavior. I would
assign a homework buddy to make sure the students
gets the homework done.

Student/Small Group Modifications/Accommodations

Materials/Technology: Paper, pencils, clay.
