Kennywood Trip! Keep June 12th in your calendars. We are
making arrangements to reserve two busses and will reserve
more if needed. This is a trip for parishioners of both churches.

For April 3-4, 2010 A Family Perspective by Bud Ozar
In today’s gospel Mary Magdalene confesses she “did not
know” what happened to Jesus. Every relationship is held
together by hope and trust in the other, because, like Mary
Magdalene, we “just don’t know.” Easter continues whenever
we accept the uncertainty in our relationships and joyfully live
the present moment in hope and trust. Alleluia.
Project Rice Bowl Easter Sunday—
The Risen Christ gives all people a new hope. It is truly a time
for rejoicing. Our efforts with Catholic Relief Services’
Operation Rice Bowl have also given hope and new chances to
many of our sisters and brothers throughout the world. Even
though our Lenten journey is over, our solidarity with the poor
needs to continue all year long. Visit crs.org to stay connected
with the Church’s work on behalf of those in need around the

WV Catholic Junior High Rally on April 10th with
Fr. John!
NOW A ONE DAY EVENT In response to the economic
conditions the Jr. High Rally is a one day event for Grades 6-9.
Jackson’s Mill 4-H Conference Center, Weston, WV and
special guest: Bob Rice. Chaperons needed.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Event is from
10:00 AM—8:45 PM.
As in the past the parish will cover the cost of the rally.

Holy Spirit Women’s Society will be selling homemade
Peanut Butter Easter Eggs and suckers. Small eggs are $2.00,
large eggs are $3.00, and suckers are $1.00 . The Easter Eggs
are really delicious and the suckers are pure chocolate. White
chocolate eggs and suckers are also available. Orders should be
in by March 21. Order forms are in the back of the church.
St. Elizabeth Guild will be sponsoring the St. Anthony’s
annual Baby Shower to benefit our local Pregnancy Resource
Center throughout the Lenten season. A collection site is
located in the foyer and parishioners are invited to bring in
baby items any time from Ash Wednesday through Easter.
These items will then be donated to expectant and new moms
facing crisis who are in need of our loving care and support
during the first few months of their babies lives. All donations
including toiletries, diapers, baby clothes, toys, car seats or
even maternity clothes, etc., either new or gently used are
appreciated and welcomed. Financial donations are also
welcome; please place in an envelope, addressed to “St.
Elizabeth Guild – Baby Shower” and drop into the collection
basket. A Baby Shower Celebration to donate our gifts to the
PRC will be held during the St. Elizabeth Guild meeting on
April 4, 2010

Tuesday, April 20 in the Parish Hall from 6:30 PM (details to
follow later), all are welcome!
Olive Wood Religious Items: Last February, our brothers and
sisters representing the Christian Catholic Families of
Bethlehem were at both churches selling Crucifixes, religious
art work, and rosaries—all made of olive wood which is native
to Israel and Bethlehem. Unfortunately, they chose the
weekend that was the firs of many huge snowfalls that month
and very few people attended. Because of that, they requested
and I agreed that they can come back a second time. They will
be at both churches on Easter Sunday. Since tourism has
greatly depleted, Christian families in the Holy Land who
depend on tourists, have been greatly affected. Sale of these
goods will help them very much and also give you the
opportunity to have “something” authentic from the Holy
Land. Please browse and buy some articles. It is for a good
cause and also a help to your personal devotion. Their website

Holy Name Society meeting is the second Wednesday of every
month. 6:30 PM at Saint Anthony’s.
Mission Activities Flea Market
Many, many thanks and appreciation to all who made our flea
market a success. To the men who moved and set up tables. We
could not have had the sale without their help. They are
priceless! To parishioners who donated items to sell. To the
ladies who worked all week setting up, pricing and selling on
Saturday. A profit of $907.45 was made and will be used to
help feed, cloth and shelter the needy in our community as well
as other needs that come before us. Left-over items were
donated to Mannington Food Pantry where they are given
free-of-charge to clients.
Working together we make good things happen and give all the
Glory to God!

Mission Activities Project: The Lenten Coin Folders may be
turned in at any time. We really appreciate your generosity on
this project. The needy are always with us and we must do
what we can to help them.

Communion Service at Holy Spirit: Starting on Monday,
March 1st and every Monday thereafter, Deacon McGinnis will
be having a Communion Service at Holy Spirit at 8:30 AM. If
there is interest at St. Anthony, he will be interested in having a
Friday Communion Service there at 8:00 AM. Let me know if

Holy Spirit Food Collection-Each third week of the month our
church collection of canned foods and other non-perishable
food items are donated to the Soup Opera. The need is great
and the Soup Opera is very appreciative of our contributions.
Please bring in your food items any time and place them in the
box at the church entrance, to the left of the display case.

The Saintly Cruisers are now planning their Jan. 2011 cruise
which promises to be better than ever. We will sail on the

Wheeling Jesuit University Hosts Spring Open House
scheduled from Noon-4 PM, Sunday, April 11. During open
house the university will host an academic and information fair
with faculty on hand to discuss academic programs. Coaches
will be available to answer questions about the teams. Prior to
open house Mass will be held at 11 A.M.

Vacation: I will be away on vacation from April 5-14. I have
learned from experience that I need a vacation after Easter and
in particular this year more than most with the extra
assignments that I have undertaken. I will pray for all of you

Homebound Visitation: Weekly homebound visitation will
resume when I return from vacation. This has been a busy three
months for me. It seems that every time I went to step one foot
outside the office, the phone rang with more work for me to do.
Please do realize that until quite recently, three priests were
assigned to do the work that I myself am presently doing. With
Lent behind us, this should free up enough time that I will be
able to do some of the things that I used to do and would rather
