Vox Pop First Edit Improvements

Questions:
1. What did you like about our first edit?

Cutting down the footage made it seem more edgy

The effects make it look like a dream
Effective editing with quick cuts
The colours that have been added in are effective- creates a clearer line
between the dream and the sleeping shots
How fast paced it was- but still gave a strong story line

Overall the comments where good focusing on the effects of the editing from the
cut to the quick cuts. With this each one did have similar opinions however there
where a few differences. Matthew said that it was effective as having the shots
cut down made it seem more edgy and mysterious, with this feedback it is good
as that is what we were expecting. As well as this Anni felt that the editing was
good because it made it look like a dream with the different effects that we
incorporated in the first edit. Ms Kaur said that the editing was really effective
due to the quick cuts it keeps up a good pace. Also Georgia like the colours and
effects that have been added onto the first edit as it shows the difference
between the dream and reality of when the antagonist is sleeping. Finally the last
good feedback from this question was form Nat where he said that the editing
was good as it was fast paced which gives off a strong story line.

2. Was the sound effective?

Sounds realistic
It was effective and raised tension
The sound was good as it went with the edit
Sound was good as it created tension
Music went along with Callums heavy footsteps

After asking was the sound effective we got some feedback on what the
audience feels. From this Anni felt that the sound was realistic as it went with the
first edit. Moreover Matthew said that the sound was effective because it raised
the tension of the first edit. Furthermore Ms Kaur said that the sound was good
as it wen t with the edit, this means that the sound fitted better with the actions
that was occurring. Similar to Matthews opinion on the soundtrack Georgia felt
that it was effect as it was able to create tension in the first edit therefore it
shows how important a sound track is to a thriller opening. Finally the last
opinion was that the sound was effective as it went with the antagonists heavy
footprints behind the victim.

3. Where the shots effective?

Yes- the cut up s of jess in different areas

Range of different shots shows detail in what was going on
Really Effective
Close ups of the rope and intercuts of the sleeping antagonist
Close ups and long shots are effective

Firstly Georgia felt that the shots where effective because she felt that the cut up
shots of the victim walking through the woods was effective it was also effective
as it didnt drag on for too long and kept her interested. Secondly Nat said that
the shots we had were effective because we had a range of different shots so
that we wouldnt have to repeat them too often as well as this it shows more
detail to what is going on in the first edit. Additionally Matthew thought that the
shots where really effective for the first edit of our thriller opening. As well as this
fee back Ma Kaur felt that the shots where effective but the most effective shots
where the close ups of the rope as well as the intercuts between the sleeping
antagonist. Finally Anni felt that there shots where effective as there was a vast
variety from close ups to long shots and pan shots.

4. What could we improve on our first edit?

Mix it up with jump cuts

Make the sound track a bit louder or speed it up
More pace with the editing, make them shorter as some of the shots
are a bit did distorted
Add more quick cuts at the end

From the last question we asked for feedback on what we could do to improve
our thriller opening after watching our first edit. With this we got some
constructive criticism. Nats opinion was that we could mix it up with more jump
cuts to make it more mysterious and confusing. Whereas Anni thought that a
way to improve was to be to make the soundtrack louder to build the suspense.
Also Ms Kaur said that to improve we could have even shorter as some of them
where distorted with this it should give the editing more pace. Similarly Georgia
added that more quick cuts near the end to keep the audience interested.
What could we do to improve?
With all of this feedback we have several improvements to make, with this
feedback we have learnt that it is important to make sure that the shots are
short so that we can keep the audience interested as well as this adding in
different effects like jump cuts to make it more mysterious. Additionally we could
make the sound track even loader to build the tension. Overall we had good
feedback with the editing with effective colours as well as having a variety of
shots therefore will not need to re-film any more footage. Furthermore we will not

need to change the sound as the comments suggested that it was effective and
went with the shots.
