Animal Behavior Lab

Experiment

In our experiment, we tested pill bugs preference to sugar and salt using a choice chamber.
To begin this, we placed equal amounts of salt and sugar in the respective sides of the choice
chamber. After that, the ten pill bugs were placed into the middle of the choice chamber. We
then recorded how many pill bugs were on each side of the choice chamber a total of twenty
times in thirty second intervals for ten minutes. The independent variables were time and the
sugar and salt. The dependent variable is the number of pill bugs on the sugar or salt side of the
choice chamber. The dependent variable was measured through direct observation. The
constants were the pill bugs being the same species as well as there number being maintained.
Time was also a constant. The controls were the choice chamber and the timer.
