In this scene Duke Orsino goes into deep conversation


with his servant named Valentine about Olivia .
Valentine has to remind duke Orsino that Olivia does
not return the love that he shows to her. She also
plans to never marry again.

A young lady named Viola was rescued from a ship reck


but her brother who was with her is now lost at sea or
dead now. She speaks with the Captain questioning
where she's at and if theres hope for her brother. The
Captain gives Viola some background knowledge.

Olivia drunk uncle Sir Toby lives at the house with her
and gets confronted by Maria. Maria tells Toby that
Olivia has grown annoyed with his drunk ways. She
also hears he has brought someone for Olivia that
reflects him and she does not like this arrangement.

In this scene you start to see the relationship between


Orsonio and Ceasario start to grow. Ceasario wants it
to be known that his love is not a fickle but that its
pure.

Maria warns the clown in this scene that he is at risk


of being fired when Olivia comes back because of his
absence. Also Olivia ends up crossing paths with Toby
while he was drunk and she dismisses him.

Act I introduced new characters and


their roles. This act also showed the love
that men have for Olivia. Sadlysince the
death of her brother she is not
entertained by it. Maria is very loyal as
of now to Olvia and just wants the best
for her. Maria send off anyone she sees
as a fool and not up to par.
