Unit 6: Family Project Packet

Here are the Rules!

1. Do not let your egg-babies die!
2. Do not let your children out of your sight (babies must be with you at all times!)
3. No babysitting
4. Injured children (cracks) can be taken to the doctor (Mr. Ring)
5. Eggnapping can either be taken care of through paying of ransom or through the police;
however, the police will impact grade (Mr.Ring)
4. All homes MUST be in the Westerville School District
5. Maximum of two kids per room in a home
6. Every working adult needs a car
7. Contact with outside agencies and field trips may be necessary
8. DO NOT purchase anything from the grocery store for this project
9. Complete the year long budget using take home income

What seems like the most difficult part of having a family?
Budgeting and i think theres an obvious reason why it was such a large portion of this project
because there are so many decisions to be made and its sometimes difficult to decide right
from wrong especially when money is an issue.
What was the most eye-opening aspect of the project?
Just overall how much there is to worry about expense wise in a family and household kind of
shocks a high school student and how little i need to worry about that stuff in my own life
currently
How important is education in providing for a family?
Education is very important because nowadays degrees really do get jobs and its a necessity
really and its common sense that the more education the more money theoretically.

Day 1: Find out everything about your spouse. (birthday, favorite food, likes/dislikes, etc.)
Day 2: How do you decide who/where to employ to watch your child?
Day 3: What were the most important and least important factors in choosing a home and car?
Day 4: What insurance did you decide to purchase and what investments did you decide to
make?
Day 5: What factors played into where you shopped and the brands you chose to purchase?
Day 6: What did you learn from this assignment? (Costs, Responsibility, Relationships, etc.)

Day 1 - Madison- 11/25- Mac&Cheese- likes music- dislikes yogurt

Nick- 12/21, buffalo chicken, likes: baseball, dislikes:the color orange
Day 2 - Someone you know or have heard of is of course a plus but honestly first impressions
are a must and usually bring your wife because they have that maternal instinct type of deal.
Theres always risk involved since youre the only one actually related to the thing but its a
tough decision that has to be made.

Day 3 - More important obviously is the bare minimum regarding both areas. I think least
important in a home is the extra stuff like you know, guest bedrooms for the in laws, or a jacuzzi
or something like that considering this is a early family. For cars the least important thing is
horsepower and torque and cool stuff like that because thats not really reasonable with a baby.
Day 4 -Full coverage is obviously a necessity because you never know especially with such a
new car and the investments kind of werent priority
Day 5 -Cost is obviously a factor but with such a high income group it wasnt too big of a
concern with brands and whatnot and we could be able to spring for the better brands
Day 6 - I think responsibilities is a huge thing and its an interesting perspective on budgets
because ive never really had to create one and you know its good to get to know the people
youll be working with for the next week or so for future reference.
