Where: Howland Middle School
Why & How: This handout represents cross subject collaboration between to
teacher in the same school. The PEEL system is the system that Language Arts
teachers use at Howland Middle school to help teach middle school students the
proper methods for writing essays and other papers. After speaking with different
Language Arts teacher I was able to use handouts like this as well as buzz words
they use themselves in their own classrooms in my classrooms to help scaffold their
writing lessons. I believe teachers should try very hard to look for any and all
opportunities for cross subject support. Not only does it help scaffold the learning,
but it also helps remove confusion for the students by having all of the expectations
for their writing stay the same in multiple classes.
