The False

Mirror

The false mirror artwork was done by Rene Magritte in 1928

in period 1900 CE 2010. Rene Magritte used oil on canvas
medium and paint. The art work shows color for the blue sky. She
uses value to show the light and darkness of the eyes and the
shadows. She shows texture by drawing small lines to show that
the face is smooth. Shape is shown by the black circle in the
middle of the eye and organic shapes are shown to display the
clouds and the outside of the eye. The allegorical painting creates
a feeling of ones perspective of life. The artwork challenges the
viewer to question whether what they are seeing corresponds
with what they think they know. The principle of art used in the
artwork were asymmetrical balance, because not everything in
the artwork is balanced on both sides. She uses emphasis to the
clouds and the outside of the eye and she uses unity to bring

everything together. I think this artwork displays how life is seen

through other peoples eyes. Most people believe that money
rules the world and they have their eyes set on the prize. But I
believe this artwork displays one who takes life day by day and
lives in the present. This is one who keeps his head in the clouds
thinks about the reality of life. I feel this art work was wisely
created creatively. This one artworks explains the reality of life as
it is with only a couple of main features to describe it.
