Improv Boxes

What We are Doing: Improv Boxes

We will be creating improv boxes for Hopefully Sow who will distribute them to
group homes and other Foster care organizations. These boxes will contain props
and other materials for various improv games along with clear instructions on how
to play them.

Audience

Students/Faculty at AHS

Resources
We will be asking theatre programs to donate props for our improv boxes. We will
contact different schools in AISD, and if a school has props they can donate (like a
hat, a scarf, a book, etc.), we can use them to put into these Improv Boxes.
We are also going to set up two boxes in AHS, one in the AGS office, and one in the
theatre classroom.
We would also put directions to different improv games that they could play into
these boxes. These would then be distributed to different locations.

Within AHS

Ask for donations to the boxes set up in the main office, the AGS office, and
Ms. Dragoos room.
Donations would be any items that could be used for a simple character, or a
scene. (Examples: hats, gloves, a pair of glasses, a toy microphone, etc.)

KAHS
Social Media (ex. posting on the Webby Web to remind people to drop off items)

Within AISD

Send emails to various theatre departments in AISD (such as O. Henry,

McCallum, etc.). Ask for the same type of items we are collecting in AHS, and
pick them up from those schools on various days.

After all collections have been made, we assemble the boxes with different props,
costume pieces, and directions for many improv games they can play with these
items.

Impact
The items we are collecting would be in pretty good shape, and the games would all
be protected so that anything such as paper would last as well. Because of this,
these boxes would be useable for years to come. The distribution of these boxes also
spreads the impact of these boxes, because it gives people in different locations the
same opportunity to be able to enjoy these boxes.

Backdrop for
Talent Show

What We are Doing- Talent Show Backdrop

We will be assisting with the preparation and performance for the Settlement Home
s Talent Show. This event helps gives opportunities of self-expression for children at
the Settlement Home. We will be designing the backdrop and set for their show.
These pieces we will be creating will be items that they can re-use for years to come,
hopefully increasing the enjoyment and involvement in the talent show.
