Initial Research Findings
Electronic portfolios, better known as e-portfolios have risen to fame over the past years. They are
being used at numerous colleges, universities, and companies. These portfolios are the shortcuts to
organizing the academic and professional milestones of individuals. Throughout the process of creating
portfolios, students are often encouraged to reflect upon and organize their learning achievements (Ahn).
After conducting research on the three academic articles on e-portfolios, Ive learned from Electronic
Portfolios: Blending Technology, Accountability & Assessment by June Ahn, E-portfolios: an
assessment tool for online courses by Robin Mason*, Chris Pegler and Martin Weller, and Preparation
for lifelong learning using ePortfolios by the European Journal of Engineering Education, that the ideas
of creating online e-portfolios share the same thing in common: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO
FURTHER YOUR CAREER/EDUCATION IS ON THERE.
Looking at the first article by June Ahn, she views online portfolios as the gateway to reviewing
student success, more in particular, their assessments.
