My experience in FM 104.6:
During my internship in FM104.6 I experience
different kinds of Jobs in different departments
like:

News making
Reporting
Production
Editing
Panel Production
Transmission supervision

Production department FM
104.6
Production department is the main department of
any
broadcasting
organization.
Production
department of FM 104.6 is run by Producer Adil
Aziz. I learnt all the production skills and
techniques with a theoretical touch from him.
During in my Internship, I produced some
programs, promos and IDs, reports and audio
features.

News Production
News production is also an important section of FM
104.6. I joined this section during in my Internship,
where I learnt how to write and format a news
item. I also got familiar with reporting. In the field
of reporting, I covered some major events of
Punjab University like Annual Convocation, ICS
Sports Gala 2010 and many others.

Audio Editing
I learnt the usage of Audio Editing software, too,
such as Adobe Audition and Sony Sound Forge. For
this, I am very much thankful to Mr. Masood Malhi.
I was assigned the task of audio editing. I assisted
the ICS students as an Audio Editor in this respect.
I contributed in more than forty projects during in
my Internship in FM104.6 .

Panel Production
I learnt the functioning and working of panel
production equipment. Panel Control is one of the
major instruments with which I became at hand.

Transmission Supervisor
I learnt there how to supervise a transmission. I
prepared que-sheets and managed the program
running. I handled the critical situations on my
own. I experienced how to organize and motivate
personnel and how to manage human resource. I
also came to know the common technical problems
in transmission and learnt how to cope with them. I
got well-versed in transmission control.

CONCLUSION

Working in FM 104.6 as an internee was a great

experience. I practically acknowledged that what is
broadcasting, news and what are the essentials to
take information and make it news worthy item.
Reporting is an activity of an intellectual mind, it
need various skills and patience.
The good thing about the organization is the
learning atmosphere over there; an intake has an
equal chance to work as permanent employee.
There is a lot to study and practice for an
individual. He is provided with every possible
opportunity to get knowledge and skills.
It was a good experience for me to work with FM
104.6 and it helped me a lot in my study as well as
in preparing my final thesis.

SUGGESTIONS
My internship helped me to see the professional
world but at the same time, there are some things
which I want to bring into the kind consideration of
my noble organization. I felt it as a new comer and
I hope that it will help FM 104.6 in future prospect.
There should be more powerful transmitter
installed to cover at least whole Lahore.
My internship was not paid; paid internships
create a slight charm to the job as an internee
looks for cherries on the cake in the beginning.

There should be a proper check on the intern;

an attendance register will do just fine.

THANKS
I would like to thank the management of PUFM 104.6. I am
also obliged to Mr. Naveed Chaudhry for his kind permission
to let me work inPUFM.
