The denotation of the

background colour is
blue, and this connotes,
peace and calmness.
This subverts to the
codes and conventions
of thriller films, as thrillers are stereotypically seen
as dark, and eary and they have lots of mystery to
them. The bottom of the screen is black which
signifies that the mystery and horror will soon
unfold. The aeroplanes on the screen are white,
and this particular color connotes purity- the fact
that these are flying away connotes that the
goodness is disappearing suggesting that darkness
and evil is left behind. The person standing in the
frame is wearing a black suit, which signifies that
he is evil, and a very dark character, maybe even
the antagonist in this film and it is denoted that he
is alone and the planes are flying away from him,
which could also suggest that he is evil, because as
said before, the purity is leaving evil behind.
James Bond:
Skyfall
The mise-enscene in this
frame is denoted
to be contrasting
from high key
lighting to low
key lighting signifying that there is a change from
goodness to evilness. It is also denoted that there

is a man in a suit being dragged down by a giant

hand from the high key light to the low key light
which connotes that someone is trying to change
him and get him to the dark side and become quite
evil. The title credit in this frame is serif connoting
that this film is aimed at a male audience.
