Canadian Forces cadet officer reservist charged with sexual assault

A Canadian Forces reservist has been charged with sexual assault at the Connaught Range in
Ottawa.
Military Police said Capt. Joseph Horvath, who is an administration officer with the cadets, allegedly
assaulted an adult reservist at the range in the summer of 2013.
A third party came forward to report the incident this month.
Earlier this year Capt. Horvath was charged with sexually assaulting another reservist at the range in
June 2009.
Major Eric Leblanc, the commanding officer of the Canadian Forces National Investigative Service,
Central region said they believe these incidents are isolated.
"They're separate, separate in time for sure," he told CFRA. "The first incident occurred in June of
2009 and this one allegedly occurred in the summer of 2013. At this point in time we don't believe
there to be other victims, however, should other victims come to light our office will take them each
in course and investigate them thoroughly as we have in the last two."
Military Police say both cases are currently moving through the civilian justice system.
Horvath has been assigned to administrative duties since being initially charged in February,
meaning he has no contact with the cadets and only has supervised contact with co-workers.
Both of the alleged victims in this case are adults.
