On Saturday, March 5, 2016 at approx. 6:15 PM, Jackson Police Officers responded to 4906
Westhaven Blvd. regarding a shooting. During the preliminary investigation, it was learned that
two hispanic males later identified as, Daniel Omar Gomez and Eli Nunez had both been shot in
the upper torso. They were both transported to UMMC for medical treatment and pronounced
deceased shortly after arrival. The suspects were identified as two armed black males that
approached the victims and demanded their belongings and money. The suspects robbed and shot
the vcitms and fled the scene running on foot. The suspects also shot and killed a dog during this
incident.
During the course of the investigation, Robbery/Homicide Detectives developed and identified
Anthony Harris as one of the suspects involved in this incident. Warrants for two counts of
Capital Murder have been issued for his arrest.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges and/or arrests are possible.
