Architecture of CAD Workstation :

The CAD workstation is the system interface with the outside world. It is defined as A personal
computer with its own computing power to support major software packages , multi tasking
capabilities and networking potential with other computer computing environments.
A typical workstation or graphic workstation consists of following hardware components :
a) A graphics terminal
b) Operator input devices
A Graphics Terminal : The graphics display of a workstation is most important because the
quality of the displayed image influences the generated designs. CRT, LCD , Plasma are the
various technologies used for the development of graphics terminal.
Operator Input devices : These are the devices through which the user communicates with the
computer for feeding it with necessary information.
The input devices can be divided into three general categories :
1. Cursor Control devices
2. Digitizers
3. Keyboard
