2015 WAS A

GOOD YEAR
In 2015, the Coloradoan collected more than 50 bikes
for those in need on Make a Difference Day. We donated
$12,200 to several local nonprofits working to better our
community. We hosted two Nepal earthquake survivors,
raising more than $2,000 for Sherpas in the Thame Valley
near Everest. We awarded the hard work of 12 senior high
school Leadership and Academic All-Stars with $6,000
in college scholarships, and partnered with CSU to give
thousands more to outstanding juniors.
You helped us to raise nearly $6,000 for the United Way and Food
Bank for Larimer County through a pair of food truck rallies.
Our team of reporters successfully worked for salary equality at
one of the largest employers in the county. We made noise about
train wait times, for which we will see relief on in 2016 thanks to
collaboration with elected officials. Our journalists investigated
still-unsolved shootings and shared countless pieces of public
safety information. Additionally, we worked with affordable
housing stakeholders to advocate for and educate around
homeownership in Colorado, being awarded a 2015 Housing
Hero award from the Fort Collins Board of Realtors.
The Coloradoan is more than a printed newspaper. Its a team
of people that loves where it lives and those around them,
working to forge new bonds and find creative solutions to shared
challenges. Thank you, our dear readers, for allowing us to be
part of your community.
We cant wait to see what 2016 holds in store.
