You began by reviewing words with the /ar! sound. You had students play a speliing game. Utilizing a large plastic container, students grabbed an Jar! word ie. Yard, harm, arm, smart, etc. the student identified by reading the word, tuming card over, then spelled the word. if they grabbed the card containing the word BAM, students had to place all their cards back in the container, After the game, each student received a small white board and you had students spell the /ar/ words on their white boards. STRATEGIES: Small group instruction, spelling words, monitoring, corrective feedback, proximity. QUESTIONS/SUGGESTIONS: Desiree, how do you ensure student engagement?
