ON TO CEBU
At last! 1 have my visa to go on to Cebu, Philippines. The long
wait has been because of the processing required to receive a more-orles's permanent 9-G visa, which will allow me to live and work in the
Philippines. It is good for three years and is renewable.

WELCOME TO CEBU -
Perhaps the most memorable part of my travel occurred in Cebu. I was met
by Ray and Mark Carlson and several Filipino friends. We arrived at the
Carlsons' hilltop home about the time that the winds of Typhoon Nitang
began.
the wind seemed to peak diiring Sunday morning when the new jalousy-andsliding glass door section of Carlsons' living room blew out with much
shattering of glass.
But, no one here was injured and the damage was
limited to the front panel and a small part of the roof.
Throughout the
typhoon's path across the Philippines over 1000 died.
Following the typhoon, the Filipino people have been very industrious at
cleaning up and repairing the damage. Many roofs disappeared and numer
ous grass-and-bamboo houses were destroyed.
On the CBS campus, many of
the huge mango trees toppled. However, the damage to buildings was not
great.
I like to say that the brethren arranged a fantastic welcome; Ray says I
brought it with me.
Now that things are getting back normal, I expect to get at finding a
house and other aspects of getting at the Lord's work here in Cebu.
With love, Walt
