Mongolian Essay
The Mongols conquered more land in 25 years while advised by Genghis
Khan then the Romans did in 400 years (crash course). They conquered 4,860,000
square miles during their reign (a). The Mongols used horses to travel so this is why
they accomplished this so easily. Although they are smart and well taught warriors they
are evil. I think that the Mongols are evil because anyone who tries to conquer the world
will not do it in a peaceful way and that was one of the Mongols biggest goals.
A Indian historian names Juzjani said A man of tall stature, of vigorous build,
robust in body, the hair on his face scanty and turned white with cats eyes, possessed
of great energy, discernment, genius and understanding, awe-inspiring, a butcher, just,
resolute, an over thrower of enemies, intrepid, sanguinary and cruel (Student handout
1.2). The historian is saying that even though Genghis Khan is a smart tough ruler he is
blood thirsty, cruel and always looking to conquer. A Muslim Historian said Whoever
gives food or clothing to a captive without the permission of his captor is to be put to
death (Student handout 1.2). This means anyone who feeds prisoners without
permission will be killed for it. This shows that they have no mercy towards anyone who
does not follow exact rules.
Mongols could conduct their bloody campaign conquest because they are highly
mobile and can strike quickly (chapter 11-2 homework). They rarely kept prisoners and
mostly just killed everyone in the towns and cities (f). Some People surrender to the
mongols without a fight because of their reputation, appearance, and to save their lives

(chapter 11-2 pg 316). The Mongols often tortured citizens they captures from towns
and cities to get information about them. They have done some good such as
protecting traders and treating the army well but none of that makes up for what they did
to their enemies.
The Mongols once used biological warfare by catapulting dead bodies of sick
soldiers over their enemies walls (crash course). They are the first army known to do
this. When they can't get into a city they just wait on the outside and stop anything from
coming in or out to destroy the city from the inside. Once at a grand council meeting
headed by Chinggis in 1202, it was decided that in days gone by tartars killed our
ancestors and forefathers. The Mongols will sacrifice then in revenge and retribution by
massacring all except the youngest (secret history of the Mongols).
Although they are smart and well taught warriors they are evil. I think that the
Mongols were evil because anyone who tries to conquer the world will not do it in a
peaceful way and that was one of the Mongols biggest goals. All the facts stated above
can prove that they are barbaric and blood-thirsty. They show no mercy to anyone
especially their enemies and will take out anyone in the way of what they want.
