Installation:
artwork that is designed to transform the perception of a space. Installation is often but not
always:
Site-specific
Inside (outside installations are considered Land or Earth Art)
Made of a variety of materials
Multi-sensory
Temporary
Types of Installation
Environmental: installations that seek to create a new environment in the
space being shown.
Gestalt: an organized whole that is understood as more than the sum of its parts.
For example, installations made of hundred, thousands, and millions of pieces to
create a whole work of art.
Interactive: the viewer must actively participate for the installation to be
perceived in full effect.

FIELD TRIP!!
Installation project
1. Get into groups of 2-4 students.
2. Plan an mini installation for a class cubbie, first
sketch and plan out materials to get approved.
3. The installation must be temporary, meaning it
can be entirely removed from the cubbie when
we are done.
4. Evaluated by classmates.
