1. Subsistence and Commercial Agriculture are very different. Within
Subsistence Agriculture the farmers farm only to survive. Within Commercial Agriculture the farmers farm to sell their food for profit, usually to bigger food companies. 2. Within Dominica 40% of farmers work in Agriculture, 32% work in industry, and 28% work in services. 3. Dominica mainly conducts plantation farming because of the tropical region that they are in. They crow crops such as coffee, cocoa, citrus fruits, and bananas. 4. Since the Green Revolution the production of fruits and vegetables such as bananas has increased greatly in Dominica. I would say that the Green Revolution has had a great impact of Dominicas increasing economy. Looking towards the future it seems that the percentage of industry farmers is growing and many citizens of Dominica have or will switch from Subsistence Agriculture to Commercial Agriculture in order to gain profit.

The EU has agreed to send over 35,000 gallons of oil as well as 20,000 bags of fertilizer. This will greatly benefit the farmers of Dominica along with the Banana Recovery Program, which was in need of fertilizers and oils to insure that the bananas were at their best quality and quantity. The EU has also agreed to assist Dominica in managing the spread of the deadly Black Sigatoka Disease. Dominica will soon be a sturdy country as long as they are receiving help from the European Union. This article very much relates to what we are studying in class. Our main topic is Agriculture and Dominica is receiving assistance
from the European Union in order to increase their Agricultural
production of bananas. This just goes to show that while there are subsistence farmers in Dominica, the green revolution has had a major affect on the country by greatly increasing the Commercial Agriculture. This article also shows how Agriculture can cause countries to have good relationships with each other, along with a good trading status. Overall Agriculture in Dominica is becoming more profitable because of the EU.
