The children’s hearts sank as they heard their mother come in. They dreaded the thought

of having to face her.

“Who spilt blue paint on my new, white carpet?” Mrs Tan yelled. Jim and Helen slunk

into the room, guilt written all over their faces.

“It was my fault,” Helen confessed. Jim added, “No, it wasn’t. I am just as much to

blame.”
