An accomplishment in which I take great pride in is being a tutor for a student. I
have been tutoring my student for six months in all subjects like: math, reading, spelling, memorization and science. Every week on Wednesday and Thursday at 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, I work with her slowly and help her understand the meanings in the things shes learning. I also teach her ways she can memorize and link the meanings together. Even though, fifth grade math was something I had to go back and memory is was a great memory trip for me. My student, Fayth Bautista is a great and hard-working student and it is such an honor to be working with a student that is cooperative. At first, I was tutoring to gain community service hours but tutoring is much more. I created a teacher-student relationship with Fayth and I learned some things myself. For six months, I learned to be patience not just in my understanding but hers. In the beginning, this were rocky because I was trying to learn her teachers techniques and Fayths interpretation. After a couple weeks, I adjusted my teaching to the way she likes to be taught and we just clicked after that. Teaching and tutoring is an awarding accomplishment in itself. I got to witness Fayth grow in her education and homework persistence. To summarize, through tutoring I gained a student and friend. I learned to accommodate to others needs and ways of learning. This project is significant to me because I grew and learned from it myself than just teaching my student. I learned things like time management, priorities and affecting other peoples lives that will carry on with me in life. I am considering to continue tutoring even if I moved for college because its good for my soul. Tutoring fulfills my happiness and lets me teach the importance of education and keeping an open mind.
