I) Preparation of emulsions of different oils

Apparatus: Beakers, test tube stand, test tubes, droppers, stopwatch, balance etc.
Chemicals: Detergent solution, paraffin oil, coconut oil and groundnut oil.
Procedure: In one test tube take 2 mL paraffin, second test tube 2 mL of groundnut
oil and third test tube 2 mL of coconut oil then add 2mL distilled water in each test
tube. Mark the liquid junction with marking pencil. Shake the mixtures vigorously
and put the test tubes in stand. Start the stopwatch and record the time required to
separate two layers of water and oil in all three test tubes. Add two drops of 1 %
detergent solution with the help of dropper in each test tube containing mixture
.Shake the test tubes vigorously and place them in stand and start stopwatch.
Record the time required for complete separation of oil and water into two layers.
