lovechallenges,beintriguedbymistakes,enjoyeffort,andkeeponlearning.Workingwithchildren,Ifindtoo
oftenthattheyareafraidtomakemistakesfearingimperfection.Toooftenchildrenbaseconfidenceonsingle
successinsteadperseveranceandthepaththeytooktogetthere.

ISTEP:
TheISTEPwindowopensonFebruary29.Studentswilltakeonetestadaythatwillbebetween
3060minutes.Grade3willtestforfourdaysandgrades4,5,6willtestforfivedays.Wehavebeenassigned
todoapilottestingrade3andgrade5thatwillbeanadditionalday.Iwillcreateatestingscheduleso
studentsandparentswillknowwhatdaysandtimeofdaystudentswillbetested.Pleasetrytoavoid
schedulingappointmentsduringthesetimes.Asalways,studentsshouldgetplentyofrestandcomewitha
positiveattitude!Thisisanassessmentforustoseeifstudentsareunderstandinggradelevelstandardsand
willassisteducatorsinreachingourlearners.Thistestdoesnotdetermineifastudentpassesontothenext
grade.Idonotwantstudentstofeelunnecessarystressandpressure,butalwayswanttheirbesteffort.The
PTOisdonatingsnacksforstudentstohaveeachdaytheytest.Ifyouhaveanyquestions,Iwillassistinany

SpeechContest:
TheOptimistSpeechContesthasbeenmovedtothiscomingMonday,February22at6:00
p.m.intheSt.NicholasChurchbasement.

HEROES:

EachweekintheThursdayfolder,studentswillreceiveahalfsheetofpaperwiththechallengefor
theweek(MondaySunday).Thepaperhasticketsforthestudentandparenttofillouteachtimethey
completethechallenge.
Wearesothrilledtoseestudentseagerlybringingthoseticketsineveryday!Thisis
howwearedoingsofarPrek56,K14,1st65,2nd78,3rd34,4th101,5th97,&6th33.Thanksfor
yoursupportathome!!Upnextweekisafocusoneatingthosevegetables,atleastthreeservingsperday.

Eatingvegetableseverydayhelpschildrengrowanddevelop,booststheirvitalityandcanreducetheriskof
manychronicdiseasessuchasheartdisease,highbloodpressure,someformsofcancerandbeing
overweightorobese.Aimforthreefiveservingsofvegetableseveryday.Havefreshveggiesavailableasa
convenientsnackandtrytoincludeveggiesineverymeal.Checkoutthisarticlefortipstogetyourkidstoeat
