Module 1

Introduction
A teacher has so many different jobs that they have to do everyday at work. All the
different effective strategies that teachers have to work with everyday help them keep their
classrooms organized and in order. In this paper, I will discuss how these different strategies
came from, and how it will help future teachers. Thesis statement here (include the chapters and
competencies).
Effective Teaching
Chapter 1 and competency 1 of our required reading talk about effective teaching. Being
a teacher means that you have to complete so many different task through out the day. Teachers
have to understand all the building blocks in effective teaching, and they know about the
different theories, and the people that have taught before us. In chapter one, the authors discussed
different theorists and the research they have do to help us teachers become successful, and this
relates to competency one. An important focus point for chapter one and competency one, is that
you can be an effective teacher, and still focus on the students.
Diversity

The authors suggested sufficient focus on student diversity in Chapter 2 and this relates to
competency 2 directly. Just image that you have deal with different cultures everyday, and every
one of those cultures does and talks differently, that is what a teacher deals with every day. Being
an effective teacher you have to be able to understand all the different cultures, and beliefs that
people in America have today. The authors discussed multicultural education, and how teachers
have to examine the ways that culture influences learning. Relating to chapter two, competency 2
goes in a little bit deeper and says that diversity needs to be celebrated, and teachers should
respond appropriately to diverse groups. With all the different resources that we have access to
today, we can learn so much about our students cultures.
Classroom Management
The authors from the textbook discussed classroom management in chapter 3, and this
correlates with competency 5 and 6. You go to work you want everything to be in order, and
sometimes you have to work at that everyday. The authors in the textbook mention the
importance of maintaining and managing behavior in a classroom. As teacher you will have
different personalities in one class, so you have to figure out what works with this class. Now not
every class is going to respond to a strict teaching, so as the teacher you have to change the way
you teach that one class. Competency 5 relates to chapter 3 because the focus of classroom
structure is mentioned; for example a classroom should be supportive, be safe and orderly, and
the students should have fun in their class. This shows just how important classroom
management is for a teacher.
Conclusion
In this paper I have outlined the different points a teacher has to become a successful,
effective teacher. I have discussed all three chapter that were in our textbook, and the four

required extra readings. I think we as teachers are here to shape the younger generation that will
run this world some day, and after all the readings I am ready to be a teacher that can help with
that huge task.
