Classroom Management Plan

Mr. Fowler
My Philosophy
I have a total of 202 students throughout 7 periods each day, due to the fact that I teach in
a junior high school. Although the students are not with me throughout the day, it is
important for them to understand that when they are in my classroom they are there to
learn, be respectful of themselves, respectful to their fellow students, and respectful to
me, at all times. It is important for the students to understand that respect first starts with
them. They will not be able to respect me, nor their fellow peers if they cannot have any
respect for themselves. Once that is established, the learning that takes place in my class
should come easily. Students are there to learn and I am there to give them the best
opportunity to excel in my class.
Why Classroom Management?
Without classroom management, it is next to impossible for learning to take place. No
matter how well put together a lesson is, if there is absolutely no classroom management
the students ability to learn anything will be miniscule. If a teacher can manage the
behavior of his or her students, they can focus most of their attention to creating an
outstanding lesson where students are able to receive and retain the information given.
The classroom is not a place to horse around, but in science class, it is always appropriate
for the students to have fun, when necessary. If students do not enjoy their time in class, it
is difficult for them to learn much of anything. The same goes for students who are
distracted by behavior issues within the class. If a teacher has bad behavior management,
the students who will suffer the most are the ones who are eager to learn.
General Rules
For Me
The 6 Ps: Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance
For the Students
1. Treat yourself with respect
2. Treat your peers with respect
3. Treat the teacher with respect
4. Raise your hand when you want to ask a question or have something to say
5. Do not ask questions or say something that is unrelated to the topic
6. Listen carefully to the directions given
7. Ask a classmate or raise your hand if you missed the direction
8. Never give up on any assignment or assessment
9. Always be willing to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself
Classroom Behavior Steps
1. Student will be given a verbal warning
2. Student will be moved to the front of the class
3. Student will be sent to the hallways, until instructed to come back in
4. Student will report to ALC

The behavior steps are put in place to ensure that the students are held accountable for
their misbehaviors. I can skip steps if necessary. If necessary I will avoid any discipline
that can negatively impact the student, but it is important for teachers to stay true to their
word. I can adjust the behavior steps at the call of the principal.
