Basic of Raster Data
Learning about Raster was very interesting, seeing how one can see things from some many
different points of view was very entertaining. I been trying to differentiate and interpret almost
everything within this course, had never looked into this kid of this before. But now that Im able
to see all the important things I had been missing I want to learn more and more. Throughout this
course learning how what the points, lines, and polygons mean was very interesting. But most
important of all I have learned that the raster data represent the real world as an array of cell
arrange in rows and columns. Within the training they discuss how satellite images, aerial
photographs, digital elevation model, scan maps, and pictures all are samples of raster data. The
course also talked of the use of rasters and vectors, and when it was most appropriate the use of
each. In one of the samples that were presented to us we could see the benefits and down side of
both. I think having the ability to when to use rasters and when to use vectors is very important.
By using the most appropriated data we can get better and more accurate information. I has a
little bit of a difficult time when I was leaning about converting between raster and vector
debates, I think out of all the training this was the part that I had a little of a hard time
understanding it. But besides that all the information presented within this training was key
factors that enhance our learning. By the end of the training I felt like the knowledge I gain from
the training will help me with the rest of the course, and of course it will remind me to see the
world from a different perspective. The little things in this world can carry a great deal of
meaning.
