INTRODUCTION
The pressurization indication and warning system shows cabin
altitude, differential pressure, rate of change and failure indication on
the EICAS display. It also sends the 10,000 ft signal to the aural
warning unit.

DESCRIPTION
The system shows on the EICAS display the cabin altitude, cabin
altitude rate of change and cabin differential pressure to the crew.
The Cabin Pressure Acquisition Module (CPAM) supplies these
parameters to the EICAS as digital ARINC 429 signals.
If one or more parameters are out of normal range, the colors change
to tell the crew, as in the PARAMETER table.

If a failure of the pressurization control automatic mode occurs, the

digital controller sends a caution message to the EICAS PRESN
AUTO FAIL. This message tells the crew of the system failure.
If a CPCS failure (Ref. 21-31) or ECS failure (Ref. 21-51) causes the
cabin to depressurize, the CPAM sends a signal to the aural warning
unit. This is a discrete signal to the AWU to tell the crew of cabin high
altitude.

COMPONENTS
CABIN PRESSURE ACQUISITION MODULE (CPAM)

The CPAM is installed in the cockpit below the right console. It is

connected to the static pressure of the pitot stand-by.
The CPAM feels the cabin pressure through an orifice on its cover
box. It also feels ambient pressure through the tube connected to the
pitot stand-by.
On each port (cabin and ambient pressures) there is a transducer to
feel the pressure. These transducers send a signal to the CPAM
central module. The central module changes the signals to digital
signals and calculates the cabin altitude rate of change in relation to
the time.
The CPAM then sends these digital signal to the EICAS through the
electrical connector. It also supplies the 10,000 ft discrete warning
signal to the aural warning unit when cabin altitude is at or above
10,000 ft.

LOCATION shows the cabin pressurization acquisition module.

On aircraft with Auxiliary Flight Data Acquisition Unit (Aircraft with

AFDAU/AFDAMU), the CPAM sends it a 14,500 ft cabin altitude
discrete output signal in case of cabin loss of pressurization (cabin
altitude 14,500 ft).
The CPAM OUTPUT SIGNALS table describes the parameters.

OPERATION
Essential DC Bus 1 supplies the CPAM through the PRESS CPAM
circuit breaker. The CPAM feels the cabin pressure and ambient
pressure and calculates the parameters to send to the EICAS.
The CPAM then sends these parameters through an ARINC 429 to
the DAU 2.
The CPAM also sends a discrete signal directly to the aural warning
unit when the cabin pressure is at or above 10,000 ft.
When the automatic mode of operation of the pressurization control
has a failure, the digital controller sends a discrete signal to the DAU
1. This signal will activate the caution message PRESN AUTO FAIL
on the EICAS display.
The figure PRESSURIZATION INDICATION AND WARNING ELECTRICAL DIAGRAM shows the operation of the system.
