Buds rules to Thrive

Bud goes through some hard times and has not had many opportunities to meet his family. bud uses his rules to survive and thrive
throughout his life .In the novel,
Bud, Not Buddy
, the author uses his rules to thrive bud shows that he uses his rule to thrive because the
rules that he has he watches out for when to use them and when he sees something wrong he makes sure he does the right thing
and follows his rules. At the beginning his rules help him get closer to meeting his parents
Bud uses his rules to thrive in his life .
in life

because if an adult tells you not to worry and right when they tell you that you will start getting worried and you werent before than
you should get ready for a surprise to come along and hurry up and get ready .Also bud made sure that he did not talk bad about anyone
until he knew everyone around him and that none of them were related to each other , Finally he used another one of his rules and it was
about not overthinking something and hurrying up and doing it so you would not talk yourself out of getting and doing what you want .

My first piece of evidence was found on page #42 paragraph #5 and it is bud's rule #83 and that is . If and adult tells you not to worry
and you werent worried before, you better hurry up and start cause you are already running late.
Bud used this rule when Lefty Lewis told
bud to put a box under his chair (buds chair) and not to say a word . When the police stopped them on their way out of Flint. When that had
happened in the story bud was thinking of counting to ten and running out of the car with his suitcase ,but something stopped him and he
had to count to ten more than once and never ran away. Also this rule means that you never know what is going to happen and you should
make up your mind quickly because if you think to late than you are already in trouble. This claim also shows the meaning of the rule
because bud was not worried about leaving Flint and when Lefty Lewis got pulled over by the police and told bud to put a box under his
seat and also told bud not to worry and to not say a word that got bud worried because he thought that Lefty had done something bad or
that the police had caught bud on the Lam .
This might seem like survive because if the police were to have caught bud would have had
to go back to the amoses and probably the shed again or back to the home and then bud won't be able to see his father . This rule will
also help him survive in life because you never know what is going to happen and he could also be in deep and trouble with the police
because the police found bud and bud was on the lam and know one knows about bud being on the lam and left if taking him to Grand
Rapids, bud could also be in danger if the police were to take him to the amoses because the amoses will act nice around and like they
care about Bud around other people but they put him in a shed with vampire bats and hornets . However, in this example Bud using his
rule to thrive in life so he can get to his father quicker.
When Bud started thinking about running after counting to ten because Lefty Lewis
told bud not to worry and to not say a word also to put the box under his seat he did not run and what lefty said got bud worried and he
was not worried before., it shows that he is using the rule to thrive because thrive means to do well and something that will help you grow
and be
successful because if something happens to them like if bud were to get caught or if lefty were to get caught he could not reach his father
in Grand Rapids .So after the police left bud was relieved that nothing had happened and then bud asked lefty Lewis what was in the box
that was so dangerous or Important that the police could not know about .

My second piece of evidence that supports my claim was found on page 27 paragraph #1 and the rule is rule #328 and it is
When you make up your mind to do something, hurry up and do it .If you wait you might talk yourself out
of what you wanted in the first place.
Bud used this rule when he was going to kill the vampire bat but he almost talked himself out
of killing the bat because he thought it might attack him . At the end though he ended up killing the bat and a few minutes after
he ended up getting attacked by lots of hornets.Bud reacted to this rule after he killed the bats he is relieved because the bat was

no longer alive and it cant hurt him, but over all bud is relieved and not worried about the bat anymore.
This might seem like survive because it is telling you about making your mind up quickly you will talk yourself out
of what you wanted to do and then you might do the wrong thing if you talked yourself out of doing the right thing or like bud
he almost talked himself out of killing the bat and that put him in danger but since he killed the bat he is safe. However, in this example
Bud using his rule to/thrive in life to get away from the Amoses.
This evidence connects to the claim because Bud used this rule to thrive
and to get his things back and to get away from the amoses bud does this by having to think twice about killing the bat and at the end
he kills it . And now he gets his suitcase and he get to leave the Amoses house .Finally he gets one step closer to meeting his father .

My final piece of evidence is rule #63 and it was found on page #157 and on paragraph #63 and buds rule is
Never say something bad about someone you dont know especially when you are around a lot of strangers .
You dont know who might be kin to that person or who might be a lip flapping Big-Mouth spy .
Bud used this rule when bud was showed
the rule that he was going to be staying in and he was saying how their was a little dead girl could be in the closet , but the girl was not
dead, and bud did not know that the little girl was his mother when she was little . This shows how bud was saying things about his
mother and he did not know that they were related . like how Bud and the rest of the band related about Mr.Calloway behind his back and
bud did not know that ,that was his grandfather and he was saying all types of thing about him and some of the things were not
so good about Mr.Calloway.
This might seem like survive because Mr.Calloway could have found out that bud was talking bad things
about him and Mr.Calloway would have gotten really mad because he already doesnt like bud . Also the whole band could have been
kicked out because they were also talking bad about Mr.Calloway and he did not know about it . And, with the little dead girl bud did not
know that she was his mother and he was saying things about the little girl and at the end when found out he was glad about knowing
who was his mother and his mother father or Bud's grandfather (Mr.Calloway).However, in this example Bud using his rule to thrive to
stay with the band and not have to go back to Flint and he has now gotten even closer to his mother and his grandfather
When Bud started talking about Mr.Calloway with the band and Bud at the moment did not know that Mr.Calloway was his grandfather
and bud had said that he did not like Mr.Calloway. And bud told him that his mother was dead and that his mother's name was that was
when Mr.Calloway found out that bud was his grandson and when bud found out that Mr.Calloway was his grandfather and that he now
knows why the flier bothered his mother so much .it shows that he is using the rule to thrive because now bud knows who his grandfather
is and bud now understands who the little girl's room that he was staying in was his mother's .
Bud showed us that waiting and being patient can get you very far and you thrive .
he showed us that because bud was waiting for the
right moment to leave to Grand Rapids . And even though bud went through some hard times it does not mean that
he gave up . And bud also showed us that to thrive you have to make sure you follow your rules that you have . And the rules that he used
were helping him thrive in life like the rule about not talking about people behind their backs ,and to make up your mind quickly ,and finally
the rule about not talking yourself out of getting what you want in the first place .
