Take action!

The existence of the discrimination against the domestic helpers and the Hong Kong governments inability
to protect their human rights, along with some other reasons, led to the domestic helpers lower wages,
refused right of permanent residency and suffering from inhumane actions. This violates Rights 5, 29 and 30
of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, therefore something has to be done about it.
You can:
a. You and your family - Treat your domestic helper (if you have one) as a professional service provider
instead of a slave, and stick to the resting days and do the housework yourself on those resting days.
b. Your friends - Spread the message and raise awareness.
c. Connect to the government - We can request the government to increase the laws protection to the
domestic helpers by protests, demonstrations, letters, which is basically communication. We should tell
the government what really is happening to the domestic helpers, and ask them to either enforce or
amend laws to where domestic helpers are included. For justice and equality for the domestic helpers,
this needs to be done.
