smell, and then paint a picture.

Just like good and bad are
opposites, our next two
vocabulary words Strong and
Faint are opposites.

means that you can smell it
really well.
Hold an open bottle of
peppermint extract, and allow
each student to smell it. Do the
same for garlic extract

Next, can you all help me sound
out the word Faint. F-ai-n-t. Faint.
Faint is the opposite of strong, so

I am going to add just a little bit
of the peppermint oil to a cotton
ball.

Now smell it. This is a faint

You cant smell it as well as the
open bottle.

Lets compare the two. First

Now we need to put our words up
on the chart.
*As each student puts word on
chart we will repeat the word,
and I will ask the student to think
of something that word
describes. *

OK, now were going to create a


painting, but Ive mixed the
peppermint smell with the red
and green paint, and the
gingerbread smell with the brown
paint so that they smell good.
Smell them.
When you paint your picture with
this paint, it will smell like
gingerbread and peppermint!
And, guess what were going to
paint?
