This project analyzes the temperature distribution of tools and workpieces during lathe machining operations. A group of three mechanical engineering students will measure the temperatures of tools, workpieces, and chips using thermocouples, thermal paint, or thermal strips during turning of steel workpieces. By comparing the temperatures, the students can determine how heat is divided between the workpiece and chips. The goal is to conclude what percentage of heat is distributed to each.

ABSTRACT :This project is hardware project and is to performed
in the machining lab with the help of the lathing machine . In this project we are going to analyse the temperature of the tool and workpiece by using temperature measuring devices such as thermocouple , thermal paint or by thermal strip . In this project we are going to compare the distribution of the temperature from the tool to the workpiece and chip . In our project workpiece are made up of the steel . We are going to do turning operation on the workpiece by using lathe machine . We are going to fix thermocouple in the insert or weld thermocouple on the workpiece . chip temperature can be measured by putting the chip in the water and taking the difference of temperature of water before and after putting the chip . From this we can conclude that what percent of heat is divided to the workpiece and chip . https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=ae_QmSRhD5w&spfreload=10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OG83e-tYBw
