Resolution to Appoint Associate Justices of the Student Body Supreme Court

1 WHEREAS, The Student Body Supreme Court fulfills important constitutional duties in
2 an effort to further the goals and ideals of the Indiana University Student
3 Association;

5 WHEREAS, Due to the graduation and completed resignations of former Associate
6 Justices Brandon Fishburn, Brad Udoff, and Chief Justice Kate
7 FitzGerald, the Court currently has three vacancies;
8
9 WHEREAS, The Student Body Supreme Court must have all eleven members present
10 and active in order to effectively conduct its own internal business, as well
11 as its role in various university committees, hearings, and functions;

13 WHEREAS, The Student Body Supreme Court spent a large amount of time and energy
10 during the late spring of last year reviewing applications and conducting
11 thorough interviews;

13 WHEREAS, The members of the Student Body Supreme Court have recommended three
14 students to fill the open Associate Justice seats of the Student Body
15 Supreme Court;

17 WHEREAS, The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, has approved this recommendation
18 and forwarded the same candidates to the Student Body President;

20 WHEREAS, The Student Body President has approved the same candidates;

22 WHEREAS, Pursuant to Article IV, Section 1 of the Indiana University Student
23 Association Constitution, justices of the Student Body Supreme Court must
21 be “appointed by the President and confirmed by the Congress”

23 THERFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the following students be confirmed by a
24 majority vote of the Indiana University Student Association Congress as
25 Associate Justices of the Student Body Supreme Court:
