Windmills were first made over 2,000 years ago in ancient Persia (Iran), but were used to
grind grain and other simple chores. Centuries later in Holland windmills were changed so that
they could be turned to face the wind. The purpose of the windmill was still limited in the work it
could do, as it was still used to grind grain and pull up water from wells. Yesterdays Windmills
were primarily used to convert the winds kinetic energy into mechanical power.
Agriculture represents a very important development in human history, considering the
benefits agriculture and its products have brought us since then, it is arguable that we would have
developed to this stage without our involvement in and development of agriculture. The most
important aspect of agriculture for us today carries on as it did with our ancient ancestors who
began this practice, to provide food for the people. Food is a very important part of our societies, it
is a basic need of every living thing, agriculture is particularly important because it is our main
source of food supply.
The worlds forests are vital because they provide unique habitats for many unique species.
