U s i n g Tab s

In this exercise we will practice using Tabs to create a simple table.


Turn on the Show/Hide button so you can see the paragraph marks

(the backward Ps)

Click on a line below this box and then click the Left, Center, Right, and Decimal tabs onto the ruler in the
order shown below and at any spacing you prefer (see the picture below). On the same line press the Tab
button on the Keyboard, and type the word Left, followed by another Tab and then Right. Continue the
exercise to complete the table below.

Mark / Highlight all three lines above you have typed


Click and hold on the Center tab. Drag the tab to 5cm.
Notice that as you move the tabs around, the words below will follow it.

Exercise 2
Instead of using the ENTER key at the end of a line with tabs, and making the , instead hold down
the shift key and then click Enter. This will give a different sign at the end of the line and join the
columns together so they dont need to be marked before adjusting the tab stops.
Enter the following table of data below. Choose the Tab types you will need. At the end of each line
go SHIFT/ENTER instead of ENTER.
Adjust the tabs to be position at 1.5cm, 5cm, 10.5, and 14cm respectively.
