problem that affects human
relationships,threatens the
continuation of a civilized society or
hinders significant aspiration.

Meaning of Social Problem


A social problem may be defined as a
situation affecting a significant
number of people that is believed by
them and/or by a significant number
of others in the society to be a
source of difficulty or unhappiness

Forms of Deviant Behavior


The typical forms of deviant behavior
in the Philippines include.

Drug Abuse
Drug abuse relates to the subjective
effects of drugs on the individual. It
can be simply defined as the
repeated missue of drug.

Classification of Drugs
1. Sedatives(depressant drugs)
These are drugs that exert calming
effects on the nervous system.An
overdose may depress the brain`s
respiratory control,which lead to the
cessation of breathing and eventual
death.Examples of abused drugs
barbiturates,tranquilizers,hypnotics,
and alcohol.

2. Stimulants(also known as
uppers or pep pills) These
drugs increase the alertness and
physical disposition of the
individual. They mask fatigue and
create exhilaration and a state of
euphoria.Examples are
amphetamines or their sister drugs
metamphetamines,cocaine,and
caffeine.

3.Hallucinogens(psychedlics)-These are
drugs capable of provoking changes
of sensation,thinking,self
awareness,and emotion.Examples
are lysergic acid , marijuana.

4.Narcotics- This are drugs that relieve


pain and make one drowsy and
relaxed. Examples are
opium,heroine,codeine and
morphine.
