What are GMOs

GMOs are organisms whose genes have been artificially altered to modify
their characteristics in some way or another.
Many individuals have misconceptions of GMOs.

How to alter
2 ways to genetically alter a crop
1. Introduce a virus/bacteria through a syringe.
2. Inject DNA with gun
Use enzymes to cut before introducing.

Myths Busted
GMOs often contain and produce things that can harm humans

no instances of severe allergies, cancer, or viral infections have been correlated with any widely distributed
GMO

The release of GMOs spells almost certain doom for the environment
no harmful effects on pollinators (e.g. Honeybees) have been linked to GMOs.

Non-GMO food is completely safe

Many maladies have been traced back to the contamination of non-GMO food with natural toxins

Genetically altered foods are a new thing

humans have been deliberately manipulating plant genes for over 10,000 years

Career Path
A geneticist/plant breeder is an individual who studies genetics in plants.
Someone with an ag. Degree
Geneticists work with GMOs in all types of plants
GMOs are usually natural genes altered to prevent a disease or something
from happening. New genes shut down original genes.
Ive thought about working with crops but wasnt too sure.

Conclusion
Individuals are not properly informed on GMOs.
If more people knew the truth it wouldnt be as controversial.
