Computation PPI values

WPC method
The computed PPI in the WPC method [17] is called as multi-response performance index (MPI). The
MPI value for a trail can be computed using the following two steps:
Step1: perform PCA on the scaled SN ratio values to obtain uncorrelated principle components.
By subjecting (y)m*p to PCA, the value of the lth (l=1,2,...,q and q<=p) principle component
corresponds to the ith trail (Zij) can be obtained as follows:

a2l 1 + a2l 2 +...+ a2lp = 1. The coefficient of the lth component, i.e. al1, al2, ..., alp are the

elements of the eigenvector corresponding to the lth eigenvalue of the correlation matrix or the
covariance matrix of the response variables. The option of performing the PCA is available in
STATGRAPHICS, MINITAB and STATISTICA software.
Step 2: compute the MPI for each trial.
