Students will complete the first steps of setting up a Weebly
website

Procedures

Preparation
Teacher will set up laptop and projector
Teacher will write down computer login information for
students
Teacher will write down his email address for students to
send their completed assignments.
Teacher will write the address of the Ala Serenity Weebly
page on the board (www.alaserenity.weebly.com)

Materials distribution (10 minutes)


1. Teacher will call up students one at a time and have them
sign out a macbook/chomebook
2. Teacher will direct students to turn on and log on to the
computer and wait for further instructions.
Anticipatory set
1. Direct students to log on to www.alaserenity.weebly.com
2. Ask students to spend 5-10 minutes to browse the website
and explore the content
3. Initiate a class discussion. Write student feedback on the
board. (10 min.)
a. What did you like about the website?
b. How would you improve the website?
4. Inform students that they will begin the process of creating
their own website e-portfolio that showcases the learning and
work accomplished throughout the year
Direct Instruction
1. Instruct students to log on to www.weebly.com. Help students
sign up for an account by using the teachers computer
(which will be projected for the class to see) to go through
the process step-by-step. (10 minutes)
2. Remind students to write down their login information and
store it in a safe place.
3. Once all students have successfully created an account,
guide students through the process of setting up a new
webpage that will be titled, ________s Culinary Weebly
Practice.
4. On the board write down that this single practice page should
include: a) a title box that says What Makes a Good
Website?, b) a text box that contains 2-3 sentences that
answers the aforementioned question, and c) an attached
photograph of their choice.
5. Next, direct students to the Build a Weebly link on the Ala
Serenity page, specifically to the section that discusses the
commonly used tools. Briefly review the common tools as
well as how to publish a page.
Guided practice
6. Allow students 25-30 minutes to explore the various
capabilities and complete the assignment.
7. Teacher should walk around the room to ensure that students
stay on task and also to answer any questions students may
have.
8. Lastly, have students email their practice webpage to the
teacher by the following class period.

Closing
9. Instruct students to log out of their Weebly accounts and the
computers. Students must then shut down all computers and
return them to the mobile cart. Teacher will check that all
laptops are returned undamaged. (5 min.)
10.
Five minutes before the bell rings, have students
straighten up and clean the areas around them.
