Cause of Birth and Death Rate in Laos

From the statistic of Laos in 2014, their birth rates is 24.76

births/1,000 population which is quite high compare to the world who
average birth rate is 19 births per 1,000 population. However, their death
rate still remains to the average with the world which is 8 deaths per
1,000 populations. The following paragraph will be talking about the this
issue. Lets find out what are the causes of birth and death rates in Laos.
The birth rates in Laos are considered to be higher than the
average. There are many factors that drive Laos to have high birth rates.
One is I believed that Laos people did not received much education. Their
literacy rate is 72.7% in 2014 and most kids in the urban area still does
not go to school but instead work with their parents as farmers or workers.
Therefore, these people didnt learn about sex education at school
because like Thailand, sex seems to be one of the taboo subjects that
teachers and parents dont really teach their children about. Without the
right knowledge, teens or adults have unprotected sex which causes
pregnancy and higher birth rates.
Another factors that might affect Laos birthrate is because they did
not have birth controls medicine or doctors that are skillful enough to stop
the mother from giving birth because most Laos people does not received
a high level of education especially in the countryside where most child
are born to work with their family business since a very young age and
parents doesnt have money to let their children study in a university or
high level of education. Since theres no Child Policy in Laos, most
families also gave birth in order to let their children work with them so
they dont have to waste money on labor force.
The death rate of Laos is 8 deaths per 1,000 populations which are
consider being an average death rate. However, their life expectancy is
only 67 years which makes sense because they did not received a lot of
health education and there are not so much doctors to cure some badly

diseases. Therefore, people doesnt lived very long compared to the

worlds life expectancy which is about 71 years.
